Project Description
In May 2024, resurfacing works last for 28 days on the runway at Vigo Airport. The airport handled over 1M passengers and 11,515 flights, as well as 315 tons of cargo through its cargo terminal.
The project focused on the regeneration of the runway pavement and the improvement of its bearing capacity in several critical areas.
The adopted solutions addressed high isodeflection zones and general surface deterioration of the wearing course caused by usage and ageing.
Additionally, the Glide Path technical equipment was relocated and upgraded to a new above-ground shelter outside the runway strip, replacing the previous underground installation. The visual aid systems were fully renewed, and a new drainage network was installed around the runway.
